Windhoek

After arriving at Windhoek Airport, you collect your rental vehicle and make your way to your guesthouse in Namibia’s capital. Depending on your arrival time, there is the option to explore Windhoek’s cafés, restaurants and local craft shops before the journey begins.

Mount Etjo

Leaving Windhoek behind, you travel north towards Mount Etjo Safari Lodge. The region offers classic bushveld scenery, wildlife experiences and a relaxed start to your Namibia adventure.

Optional activities include game drives, guided walks and visits to nearby rock engravings and nature reserves.

Etosha National Park

Continue north into Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s best self-drive safari destinations. Staying at Okaukuejo gives you access to the famous floodlit waterhole, where wildlife often gathers throughout the day and evening.

Spend your days exploring Etosha’s many waterholes and open plains in search of elephants, lions, giraffes, rhinos and other wildlife.

Western Etosha

Today, you continue through the western section of Etosha towards Dolomite Resort. This quieter part of the park offers beautiful landscapes and a more remote safari atmosphere away from the busier eastern areas.

The drive itself is part of the experience, with excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings along the route.

Damaraland

Leaving Etosha behind, you travel into the rugged landscapes of Damaraland. The region is known for its dramatic mountains, dry riverbeds, ancient rock formations and desert-adapted wildlife.

Optional excursions include visits to Twyfelfontein, Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes while the surrounding landscapes offer some of Namibia’s most scenic drives.

Swakopmund

From Damaraland, continue to the Atlantic coast and the coastal town of Swakopmund. The town offers a completely different atmosphere with ocean views, cafés, restaurants and a range of optional adventure activities.

Popular experiences include catamaran cruises in Walvis Bay, scenic flights, quad biking, kayaking and sandboarding in the surrounding dunes.

Sossusvlei & Namib Desert

Your journey continues south into the Namib Desert near Sossusvlei. The region is famous for its towering red dunes, Deadvlei and endless desert landscapes.

Early morning visits to the dunes are highly recommended, while Sesriem Canyon and scenic desert drives offer further opportunities to explore the area.

Windhoek

Today you return towards Windhoek for your final evening in Namibia. River Crossing Lodge, located just outside the city, offers beautiful views over the surrounding landscapes and a relaxed atmosphere to end your journey.

Depending on your arrival time, there is the option to enjoy the lodge surroundings or head into Windhoek for a final dinner or some last shopping.

Departure

Today you drive to Windhoek Airport where you return your rental vehicle before continuing with your onward flight or journey home.

If you would like to explore even more of Namibia, this journey can easily be extended with additional nights in the Kalahari, along the Skeleton Coast or in the Caprivi Strip. Victoria Falls, Botswana or Cape Town also combine well with this route for a longer Southern Africa journey.
