Platbos Forest is one of the few remaining ancient forests in South Africa, filled with old trees, some of which are over 1000 years old. The forest, located on the slopes of the Baviaanspoort Hills, is situated on Grootbos Road between the fishing village of Gansbaai and the coastal town of Hermanus. Just a few kilometers away, southern right whales gather each spring to give birth to their young in the waters of Walker Bay.
